Bow Hunter Survival Tools Include Knives, Saws, Optics, and Radios!

KNIVES

Next to your bow and your arrows, the next most important item for the bow hunting experience is probably the knives that the bow hunter will carry. Most bow hunters carry 2 or more. We usually carry 3 or 4.

I personally carry a small Swiss Army knife (always whether hunting or not), a Gerber multi-tool that has 2 blades, a Buck 110 folding hunter, and a Buck Personal fixed blade. The others in our group also carry the Buck and Gerber brand.

We are not saying or implying that Buck and Gerber are the only way to go for blades, I just happened to get started with them many years ago and it rubbed off on the rest of the family.

I personally own about 50 knives of all shapes, sizes and brands. I still have ones that I obtained when I was a teenager. In the collection there is probably one of all the major manufactures and several of them are used each season for butchering our hunting bounty. Others are just in the collection to look at.

We recommend that each hunter do themselves, a favor and purchase at least one very high quality knife to carry while hunting. Knives are very important items in an emergency and are necessary to dress, skin, and butcher your animal.

In addition, if something terrible happened to your bow or arrows, the knife could be used to defend yourself. And we have just the place and deal for your high quality knife. Up to 60% off the best knives HERE Hunting, Kitchen, and Cooking!

By very high quality, we mean a knives made to high standards with high quality material. For a mass produced knife that usually means that it carries a lifetime guarantee or warrantee against defects or breaking and that the blade will hold a good sharp edge a long time.

Some blades are sharp when you get them, but after some use and you try to put a good edge back, it is impossible because the quality of the metal is so poor.

For a custom made knives, very high quality means that the maker has some nationally recognized credentials and the materialsused meet some specified criteria for strength and hardness. Around 20 years ago, we had 2 knives custom made by Tom Cellium in Texas.

Tom is a certified Master Bladesmith and you would not believe what it takes to get that certification.Tom was a Houston or Harris County policeman when we met him and he was going to retire and just make knives.

Ours are so beautiful, we just display them. Tom said he would rather his master pieces be used, but we just could not do it. If you have an opportunity to get one of his blades, you will not regret it.

Brand name knives can be obtained for any of the merchant sites at the bottom of this page, Custom blades are wherever you find them (archery and hunting expos, gun shows, garage sales, and bladesmith's web sites).

Some of our favorites.

Here are a few choices for your consideration.
