We would like to make some specific suggestions since we have had rewarding experiences with each product. Emergency Food Supply and 72 Hour Kits. With all of the disasters that have plaged this country and the world this year, it makes good sense to have on hand for or imediate use some provisions in case your family is confronted with any disaster. You may want to have supplies for your home and your vehicles. You may even take a supply camping or hunting just in case. Take a look at the Executive 72-hour Kit - As seen on CNN! The archery or bow hunter does not need one that will range out to 800 or 1,000 yards, but if you do not mind spending the extra money, they do make excellent hunter gifts. We have been using the Bushnell brand with the 400 yard range. If your hunter also is a rifle hunter, then the longer range models would serve double duty. We have used several brands of binoculars and usually have several pair of inexpensive ones on hand for last minute hunter gifts. Those that you remember like Christmas Eave or Christmas morning. We do recommend that you purchase all optics either at the store or with the understanding that they can be returned for "any" reason. We have found that all optics are not the same, even if you get 3 or more pair of the same brand and model, there is often enough difference in the way objects appear that some are better than others. These items can save someone's life in emergencies and at the very least, they provide peace of mind, save a lot of work, and prevent sore throats from yelling. We have been using the Cobra and Motorola brands. They are so inexpensive that you can afford to give several as hunter gifts. The Grms units cost a little more but the range is much better. KNIVES! We have been using Buck and Gerber for many years but there are many high quality knife companies out there and a good knife is indispensable for the hunter. A quality knife is always appropriate for hunter gifts. Most hunters own several. TENTS. We gave our tent to the kids several years ago and have become spoiled in our older age with the tin and fiberglass teepee's. Tents provide a quick and inexpensive way to go hunting and enjoy a stay in the outdoors, so they are very important to hunters that are still able and willing to use them. We do not have a particular brand to suggest and feel that most of the tent makers today are making great products. ATV RACKS. Over the years, we have used many brands of Atv racks. Most of them will better serve the hunter and camper as a coat hanger at camp rather than holding your expensive bow or rifle. If your hunter has one of these, then a good set of Atv racks would be welcome hunter gifts. For a bow rack that can hold compounds, recurves, or longbows, enter item # 38-882-588-00. We found the IPI brand most functional. They have "fins" that hold anything put in them very securely.
