Most likely the largest camping equipment item is the vehicle that gets you and all of your equipment to the hunting spot, and is probably the

We currently use a Chevy CrewCab with a 454 engine, but it will probably be replaced with a Ford 6 Liter Diesel and their automatic
transmission. We have researched the Big 3 of Pickup trucks and the new Ford automatic diesel has everyone beat on power, comfort,
dependability of components and bang for the bucks. We have owned and driven many vehicles in the last 20 years and the power train
in the Ford is the best ever (at least at this point).

UPDATE-- The 6.0's remain out of our price range so we purchased a older 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel with only 53K miles.
We decided to up the power of our expensive piece of camping equipment with a programmer and also decided to get the recommended guages (Pyrometer and Trans Temp).
The F350 with the 7.3 Power Stroke will need to last us for a long time, so we did days of research reading material
about how to get the best mileage and longevity from the big diesels. In the end it was clear that two things
would be the most helpful in achieving that goal.

The next largest and most expensive piece of bow hunting equipment would be your shelter. The aluminum
or fiberglassteepee
has spoiled these old bones and we would never go back to the "old days" (our younger years) of sleeping on the ground
or in the camper shell on our pickup.
It would really be difficult to buy a camper or motorhome on the internet, so we do not recommend
any place to do so unless you are in driving distance of Layton, Utah which is near Salt Lake City. That dealer is

RV whether a camper or a motor home, it is very expensive to repair at home, but on the road, it's horrendous. The repair

Purchase the largest camper that you can afford and that can be taken to your hunting spot (a 34 footer may not fit the mountain roads).
Have the axles "flipped" to give you more off-road (off-pavement) ability and keep from ripping the plumbing off on potholes.
Try to get a model with the holding tanks insulated or in the heated area of the "belly" to prevent freezing.
Even if the tanks are insulated or heated, you will need to insulate the dump valves and the piping to them.
We like the room that slide-outs provide, but be aware that in snow, the slide-out must be cleaned and the ice removed before traveling.
If possible, get a model with a solar panel or add one as quickly as possible. Generators are great but very noisy.
Since this purchase is probably a multipurpose piece of camping equipment, you should also consider the other uses and the
needs associated with that use.
If you are getting a camper longer than 27 feet, please consider a fifth wheel for safety. They are much easier to pull.
