Advice in choosing your Bow Hunting Equipment is easy to come by

Although much advice is available to help you choose your bow hunting equipment, it is extremely difficult to decide on which advice to take. It is our experience that most of the time we decide on our equipment by want first, then need, then price.

For example: We do not need that F350 to commute to work, we wanted it and justified buying it by telling ourselves that we needed it to go bow hunting and then we chose the options based on the price.

We have been there done that and have the T-shirts and the ball caps to prove it. That is why we decided to develop a few pages dedicated to helping the bow hunter and archer in general to choose the best bow hunting equipment at the best prices regardless of whether you need it or just want it. We are certain that this advice is worth at least what you are paying for it.

Since "bow hunting equipment" covers such a large selection of items, we will divide the subject into 2 major categories. Those categories are Large multiple use equipment and Smaller personal use equipment.

The Personal Use category will be divided further because there are so many personal items to choose from. Feel free to "jump" to the page that most interests you or just read on for our take on bow hunting equipment.

Large Multiple use Bow Hunting Equipment

By Large multiple use bow hunting equipment, we are talking about big ticket items that you may buy once every 3 to 5 years or maybe even once in a lifetime such as RV's, tow vehicles, large tent shelters, and ATV's.

I do know people that use their RV and/or tow vehicle only 1 or 2 times a year. These vehicles can be found that are 10 or more years old with very few miles or hours use on them. With a minimum of time and money, these pieces of equipment can be put in tip top shape (provided they were properly maintained).

A case in point is our boat. We know, it is not really a piece of bow hunting equipment (but it could be in some cases), it is just an example. Our boat was purchased in February of 1990 brand new. The engine is an end of year 1989 model also new.

Today that engine only has 78 hours on the hour meter, so it is still practically new, we just fish a lot more than we cruise the waterways. Morale of the story is, don't be afraid of older equipment if it was well maintained and it fills your wants and needs. It can save you mega $$$$.

That boat is still serving its purpose today because we purchased the largest and best at the beginning for our wants, needs, and a price that we could afford. Come to think of it, that is one piece of advise for choosing all of your bow hunting equipment that we would like you to take to heart.

Buy the largest and best equipment that fits your wants, needs, and price range at the beginning because upgrades later will costs you a lot more.

You must be practical though. A F350 long bed crewcab and a 40 foot tongue hitch camper is just not going to work for most mountain logging roads.

The way we handle the situation may be of some use to you or it may just give you a chuckle. We have a crewcab pickup, a Blazer SUV type vehicle and a Suburban type vehicle. All of them are 4 wheel drive.

That way almost all situations are covered and we use which ever vehicle is the most practical for the need of the day. No, we are not wealthy, we just follow the advice above that we shared with you.

Our vehicles are older and well maintained. When we need or want a replacement, we buy the biggest, best, and most affordable one that we can get, just as we do with all of our bow hunting equipment.

This same advice can be applied to ATV's, but we have found that the maintenance on this type of equipment is neglected by most people and therefore, good used ATV's are very hard to come by.

About the only ones that can be obtained from individuals are the ones that were owned by older people who rarely used the units. Other than that, we found that buying the "demos" from the dealer was a good choice since the service was always done and the dealer will usually give the unit a tune up and maybe a little warranty to go with it. There is much more information about ATV's on the Large Bow Hunting Equipment page.

If you have a small camper and a smaller tow vehicle would suit your needs, say like a Jeep of some sort, then we found the perfect place to buy or sell a Jeep!

You can not beat their advertising cost.

When we were in our tent phase of camping, we usually bought new ones that were on sale during the off season, if there was one, and usually this was a larger tent than the previous one.

The kids would then inherit the older tent. Since the tents were not very expensive compared to a camper trailer, we did not look for used tents, or try to buy one much larger that we thought that would be needed. We did not want to deal with more weight than necessary.

There is a lot more discussion on tents and our trial and tribulations with them on the page devoted to Large Bow Hunting Equipment.

There is a jump link above. That brings us to the second category of bow hunting equipment, that of small personal use type of equipment.

Personal Use Bow Hunting Equipment

By personal equipment, we are talking about the items that are unique to your needs as a bow hunter.
Things like your bow, your arrows, broad heads, quiver, backpacks, knives, saws, optics, communication equipment, tree stand or blind, clothing, foot wear, hygiene and odor control, and other miscellaneous items.

Since these items are personal, we will offer advice on where to find deals on a variety of items rather than on which particular item to buy.

In some cases we will give reasons as to why we use a particular brand or model of bow hunting equipment.

Since there are so many personal items, we will further divide the items into the following groups and devote a page to each of these groups of bow hunting equipment. Just click on one of the topics to go directly to that page or use one of the buttons on the left margin to jump to whatever interests you.

On those pages listed below, we will go deeper into the topic and introduce you to some items and sites that you are probably not aware of. Below the group of topics you will find a list of companies that we like and use.

They have thousands of pieces of bow hunting equipment for you to choose from if you are in a hurry to find a particular item and would rather just start shopping.
Bows, arrows, rests, sights, quivers.
Backpacks, fanny packs, hydration control.
Saws, knives, optics, communications.
Blinds and Stands
Clothing and Foot gear.
Hygiene and odor control.

The order that we are listing the sites has no particular meaning. The first site in the list is where we always look for most of the items above because if they have it, it is probably going to be at the best price and terms of any.

But, do not stop there unless you have shopped around enough to know what the average price is and what a "get'em while they got'em" price is.

Site 1. Get everything you will need for hunting!

Site 2. Archery Spoken Here

Site 3. Archery, Fishing, Hunting and Camping equipment.

One of the above companies is surely going to have something to satisfy your needs for bow hunting equipment.

If you have ever wanted to put up a web site to talk about your areas of interest and just thought it was just too expensive or hard, try the links below to see how easy and inexpensive it really is.
