The Alaris Concepts Company out of Alberta Canada has developed the BowKaddy
Bow Rack. It is an innovative approach to carrying your expensive bow on an ATV or in
your pickup or any other vehicle.
A few weeks ago the rack was brought to our attention and it seemed quite unique so we
decided to try it out. It is easier to mount to an ATV with the special mounting
hardware, so we used that.
The instructions have text as well as pictures and the instructions are in color. When is
the last time you saw that? We decided to make a video about the installation since we
have discovered YouTube and think it another great way to get our information out.
The BowKaddy Bow rack comes with the hardware (bolts, nuts, washers, pins, and screws) for
an easy install. It took about 2 and 1/2 hours to install the rack including shooting
the film.
We cut the film down to a little over 15 minutes and made 3 videos so that it does not
take so long to download. If I were to mount another one, it would only take about 15
minutes to do since I now know where all the bolts and go.
Arliss McNalley, the inventor and distributor of the BowKaddy bow rack system tells me
that he leaves the rack in his truck in sub zero weather and has had no problems what so
ever with breakage or warpage. Now that is some test.
The BowKaddy Bow Rack is adjustable for almost any bow limb design or length. If for some
reason, your particular bow will not fit the pre drilled configuration, Arliss says that
you can drill additional holes in the ATV base or detents in the bow rack itself in order
to accommodate your limb design.
The rack has been well thought out and provides for a safe method of keeping your bow
handy for quick accessibility when that big bull or buck comes into view.
The videos show some planning tips and suggestions to making the installation go quick
and easy. The BowKaddy Bow Rack even has provisions for a pad lock to serve as an
increased visual security for your bow when you must leave it unattended.
This bow rack is not cheap. It is very versatile and quick to set up for a different bow
should the need arise. It is make of light weight sturdy material that can stand up to
the rigors of hunting in all kinds of weather.
My first compound bow cost me around $100 with accessories. That is cheap by today's
standards, but 35 years ago, it was not cheap to me. Today's bows can cost near
$1,000 before adding the accessories to make them functional. That is not cheap
by today's standards.
We are willing to pay these prices because we get what we
want at a price that we are willing to pay. So, what does this mean and where
am I going with this discussion?
I will just sum it up with a question. Why would you or I spend what we spend
on our archery gear ($30K for primary vehicle, $7K for ATV, $1K for bow setup) and then
carry the bow in a $30 rack? Go figure,go BowKaddy.
I think this bow rack is the best idea that I have ever seen for transporting a bow
in a pickup, either inside or outside. Actually, any vehicle that you use for your
hunting adventures (including boats), could use this system. Check the
